post-BMT block leave
so for the past week, i took leave from work and spent everyday (literally) with Peng.
so this entry and subsequent entries are going to be detailing each day of his block leave with regard to how we spent it together !
hehe i can't really type out each and every single day in one whole entry cause it's going to take super long due to the amount of content (as you know, i can elaborate until alot alot alot).
here goes~
Block leave, day 1
i woke up at around 4.30am ? which is really the earliest time i've ever really woken up by myself before. i slept at around 1am plus so i had like only 2 hours of sleep.
before bedtime i was busy texting Peng cause for every 3km that he marched during his 24km route march he gets to have a break and he usually uses those breaks to drop me an update in a text.
preparing to enter my dreamland and his text came. 12km update but there was bad news, his company (and i suppose the subsequent companies) couldn't get to finish the entire route march due to unfavourable weather.
he was so disappointed. hahaha.
knowing him, that was probably the one thing in BMT he was looking forward to. cause it's challenging and challenging stuff is just what he likes.
i can sort of understand la, it's like doing things halfway y'know ? you don't want to give up but there's nothing you could do, you have to.
oh anyway, i wanted to sleep late cause i would be more tired and can nap with him after his POP when we go home. hehehe.
so yeah, woke up damn tired like i didn't even sleep a wink at all.
thought i had enough time but i didn't (well, cause i'm slow as always).
underestimated the duration that i would take to make the strawberry cornflakes parfait for Peng and his mum.
though, it ended up going to waste cause i was soooo stupid, the yogurt was left in room temperature for like hours before it could be put in the fridge. (cause i brought it to the Marina Bay floating platform)
the yogurt soured and the cornflakes became soggy and worst of all; the strawberries grew mould :(((((
i should have given more thought to that before i brought it out. sigh. anyway the containers can be kept. haha.
wore my camouflage apparel that Thura helped me to buy matched with a tank top underneath plus shorts. knotted up the camo top's shirt tails so the top looked at least nice enough.
i was late to go down to meet the taxi which i booked the day before, oopsie.
the taxi uncle even called me to ask me where i was and where he should wait for me. hahaha.
yup i'm a bigshot like that ;D
so i took the taxi, and was randomly chatting with the taxi uncle about random things.
he was pretty chatty too so it was a pretty enjoyable ride.
dropped by Peng's block to pick up his mum.
it was definitely awkward but i'm still trying ! maybe one day i'll be able to talk to his mum comfortably just like how i talk to mummy.
the taxi uncle talked to his mum too so the atmosphere was really easygoing.
wanted to pay for the cab fare using card but Auntie wouldn't let me pay at all ;(
she was faster as she had the cash.
the booking fee for the taxi was like $8, wah so you can imagine how expensive the cab fare must have been. i can't really remember exactly how much but it definitely wasn't a small sum.
we alighted just opposite the back of the audience seats of the floating platform, and already there were army personnel acting as road marshalls waving their traffic lightsticks around.
i got pretty excited cause there was a big holding area beneath the audience seats and all the recruits were there !
was hoping to maybe catch a glimpse of Peng maybe but we didn't see him at all.
we did saw this recruit sleeping with his shirt unbuttoned and tucked out and he was lying on several field packs like his own makeshift bed like that...
anyway i was like hastily taking out the invitation letter to prove our legitimacy as invited guests but the goodie bag distributors didn't really give a damn about the letter. :/ hahaha.
they just gave us the goodie bags and ushered us in.
should have believed Xingyee when she said that they don't care whether you have the letter or not. but ohwell, first POP that i've ever attended, there's always a first for everything isn't it !
so i led his mum to sit right in front of where Dragon company would be formed up on the floating platform so that we could at least get a closer view and maybe be able to spot him.
so we sat near the aisle, third row yellow seats. right beside the red seats which i suppose was reserved for the VIPs and officers' families.
the sky was pretty dark and the black clouds were just covering the whole sky. that morning just looked gloomy that day.
i still had my cough and lots and lots of phlegm so i drank loads of water till i had to go to the makeshift toilets near the entrance.
there were queues, okay so i waited. then the woman in front of me went to another cubicle which was apparently empty so don't know why the women in the queue were so silly and still queued outside it.
then the cubicle i was queuing for like take damn long leh, so i wondered if it was like just now like that. went to check, and the cubicle was empty all along :/
it was damn cool anyway cause when i flushed the toilet, the water used to flush was dark blue in colour !!!
have never seen it in my life before.
anyway i hurriedly went back to Auntie there. and then about like 10 mins later, it started to rain. :(
cold hasty droplets of rain that fell on us and made us use our ponchos. (that was given in the provided goodie bag)
there was this indian mother and daughter in front of us. they were really annoying and they kept standing up and blocking us.
and the daughter just kept taking selfies. omg buay tahan leh hahaha she just keeps posing and posing. then there was this army personnel standing in the corner distributing the disposable ponchos in the rain (he didn't even have one for himself, poor dude). then the indian mother in front of me kept taking ponchos. one for herself and a daughter not enough, still have to take 3 more to cover her 2 bags and cover her seat. and i'm like, what the heck ?? some people don't even have ponchos and she uses them up to cover bags that don't require it ! and the poncho is long enough for a reason. so that it can still cover the butt when you sit down. honestly i don't get the point of taking another poncho just to cover the wet seat when the poncho she is wearing is capable of doing just that. she ought to have a bit more common sense and courtesy to spare a thought for the others. just a thought. anyway the parade commenced and the poor companies and other SAF battalions had to march out and assume their positions on the floating platform in the drizzle. that's sad, but at least they had their helmets ! (the ones shaped like half of a coconut husk) so they took their dressing, and the female MC narrated her parts. then it came to the presentation of the best recruits of each company. Peng said afterwards that one of the best recruits marched wrongly (left hand and left food haha). too nervous probably. Tian joined me and Auntie 10 minutes after the parade started since we had an empty seat beside us anyway. spotted Peng, and as he said he was right beside the indian guy in his company, first row hahahaha. no offense but it is easier to spot when he's beside the indian. heehee. they had the march past and i spotted him ! all of us, we did but he didn't see us at all ;( to think Auntie kept waving at him but he didn't see at all lol. so they marched out, and the SAF military band came out and played a few pieces for us. not bad la actually hehe. they played a musical piece that i could identify but ahhhhhhhh i can't remember now leh ! annoying my stm. i even had to ask Peng what we did everyday during his block leave cause i really couldn't remember at that point of time even though it was a really happy week for me. alright then after they finished the BMT recruits marched out again, but without the Guards battalion. the 1st till 4th companies formed up directly in front of us omg. hahaha and then the sweet-like sweat smell just wafted up lol. the recruits were like smiling so widely all i could see is teeth. hahaha. then they did the BMT roar which is rather funny. hahah. maybe one day me and Peng can attend another POP and he can see how funny it looks from the audience's point of view. the best moment was when they took off their jockey caps and held it on their shoulder. they looked so proud and so smart, i really felt happiness fill me and i felt proud to have such strong men protecting our country. i didn't really have eyes for anybody but Peng haha even though he was standing super far away. then that moment when they threw their caps ! it looks super super majestic hehehe. they just started chattering excitedly and patting each other's back and taking group photos. in short, it was just rowdy. had to push through the throng of people just to get to Dragon company. and when we reached there i couldn't even spot my Peng at all. so in the end he spotted us instead. hahah. we took some couple pictures and i helped him to take some with his mum and Tian. then we took a couple of pictures with Thura, Mel, Shan and Jas. then afterwards i followed Peng and his mum home. we randomly boarded a bus outside some building in hopes of alighting a few stops later to hail a taxi cause the taxi queue outside the building was super super long. but turns out the bus led to AMK and there were many seats too so Peng could sit all the way for the whole journey ! yayz. we alighted at this bus stop which Peng said was Kok Cong's house busstop. then we took another bus home and Peng used my YJ ezlink card. He changed out of his army clothes and took a shower, afterwards we went downstairs to the eatery below his block to have brunch. wasted half of my omelette rice cause it had too much black pepper and my cough havent recovered at that time yet. :( then we went upstairs, and we napped while Auntie went to the supermarket to buy stuff at Sheng Siong. afterwhich she came back and napped too haha. we napped for damn long, like until 6pm ? super super late hahaha. by then Auntie woke already and she was cooking dinner (the heavenly smell of her cooking just wafted into the room). so we woke up and went outside to have dinner. hehehe. loads of good food. homecooked food yay ! and afterwards we spent quite a bit of time watching this chinese drama that Auntie was watching. or rather, i was watching. Peng was playing his COC haha. then he sent me home, and that was the end of block leave day 1 ! heehee. omg. i really typed very long haha. typed this on monday, saved it as a draft halfway cause Tuesday till Thursday i was too tired out from the worklife that i didn't have much time to continue this entry. but now it's done ! yay hehe. Block leave, day 2 coming up in the next entry ! :) time for bed now, goodnight to anyone who's reading this ;) Vocation
in approximately 5.5 hours Peng is going to be awake and travelling to Jurong East to meet his section mates for breakfast at 7am. (at the time of typing this entry)
and this guy is still packing his bag now ;( should have packed together with him just now instead of playing around :(
he's going to have very few hours of sleep left. oh dear.
so a week of block leave is over and in about 6.5 hours i'm going to wake up and get ready for work.
no more Pengfei time, that means ! :(
he's going to report to his posting venue, which is SCS (Specialist Cadet School). located at Jurong East there.
from Pasir Ris to there; one end of Singapore to the other. ohwell~
he predicted himself that he would at least get into SCS if he couldn't get into OCS (Officer Cadet School). and so he did, he got into SCS. he was a lil bit disappointed that he didn't get into OCS, so was i cause i really think he is the most suitable recruit to be posted there, but that doesn't mean i am any less proud of him. in fact, i am very very very proud of him. he worked hard during those months in BMT, he's fit and carries out his own exercises at night, he does quite well in those courses such as standard obstacle course, live firing all these. to be able to get into a command school is pretty hard enough, not everybody has the ability to be posted there. the fact that he is capable enough to get himself posted there is already pretty self-explanatory itself. and also, i heard that SCS needs much more people. that could be possibly why he wasn't posted there. probably they need his talent there ;) anyway, it's a loss for OCS for not having Peng posted there. cause i think he can definitely excel. hehehe. call me biased but that's what i honestly think. not because he's my boyfriend and all and love has blinded me but because i really see his potential. he's definitely going to excel in SCS, this i know for sure. it's probably going to be much harder than BMT but i trust that he can pull through it smoothly. besides, he has his section mates for company ! it was actually pretty amazing, really, 11 people out of 16 getting into SCS (including him). guess they really need people. haha ! anyway, the next entry after this is going to be a super long one detailing the times we spent together during his block leave. cause i wanna preserve the memories and what better way to do so by blogging ? ;) which is of course much much better than scribbling away furiously in my diary. it's about time i slept, anyway. going to drop Peng a goodnight call and it's bedtime for me~ goodnight everyone :) |
