Throwback to Christmas ;)
alright. this is gonna be one long throwback here.
back to Christmas, and i mean 25/12/13. yeaps (and it's 2014 now !).
i've long wanted to blog about it but i've been procrastinating way too much and i suddenly felt like if i didn't blog now i may forget all about it and no that's not what i want cause it was one of the happiest days of mine in 2013.
in actual fact i met Peng earlier in the day, we had a brunch date at Seoul Garden, and man, did we ever stuff ourselves like we haven't eaten in a long time.
reached home in the late afternoon cause he was going to attend Jacob's birthday surprise, followed by clubbing at night.
honestly, what's so nice about clubbing ? okay, i get that the 'high' mood is pretty infectious but all you do is dance on the dance floor.
i guess an ignorant person like me won't know. and, i just remembered that Peng likes to call me ignorant. when i don't know some stuff that he points out to me sometimes. GAH.
it makes me feel like i'm the stupidest girl ever.
but i know he doesn't mean it in that way. cause if i really am stupid, we wouldn't even be together cause he told me he doesn't like stupid people. (no offense)
okay, so we planned to have a date on Christmas itself. honestly i have no idea why it was on that date but i guess its a fixed annual occasion whereby people would make preparations to do something special on that day. and so, that was our first proper (planned) date.
i wasn't really expecting anything, just a nice date out late with him, enjoying the nice breeze and all the Christmas lightings.
we were both late, and i was wearing this long-sleeved shirt that made me sweat even before i met him. ack.
i swear that was the worst thing. going for my first-ever proper date sweating.
i hate sweating.
but i hate sweating just when i'm about to meet other people.
anyway i met him in the mrt cause i told him to tell me his cabin door number and i would meet him there. saves the hassle of him exiting the mrt and searching for me on the platform and having to catch another train.
so we met, and he surprised me with this cute lil pink gift bag.
i was totally speechless for a few moments, cause i didn't expect him to get me something !
i mean, yeah it's Christmas but since i usually don't celebrate it, i didn't even think of getting him anything for Christmas.
and he just gives me the gift bag, saying it's my Christmas gift.
i was so, so touched. and yet at the same time, i wanted to dig a hole and jump inside and just bury myself, cause i feel so damn guilty that i didn't get him anything.
shows how much he planned for this and i didn't and just went and joined him like some ignorant person. i'm the worst girlfriend ever ;(
what if he was expecting me to surprise him with some gift too ? and i was just there like, oh my god thank you for this gift i love it so much but i'm really sorry and embarrassed cause i've got nothing for you :( i totally suck so much, is there like any courses to teach you how to have a bit more common sense when in a relationship ?
striving to become a better girlfriend now and i will keep trying.
we took the train to Promenade cause we planned to catch a movie together at Marina Square. no idea why at that shopping centre but it's just there. maybe cause it was closer to Clarke Quay, i don't know. oh and, just a side note, he wanted to plan everything and so yup everything was what he thought up.
apparently Promenade has a new train, which is the Downtown train, so being the nosey parkers that we are, we went to check it out. and in this moment of craziness, he took my hand and we entered the train from one door and exited from the next door. one of the stupid things we do together, i bet people probably thought that we're a crazy and weird couple but whatever. there's always a first for everything ! :)
we exited Promenade and saw this convenience store where we bought some dried mango snack which he said he liked, water and an instant egg. cause we both love eggs and wanted to try it. hehe. and it actually tasted pretty good ! went up the escalator and i had no idea how to walk to Marina Square. hahaha. so we just entered the nearest shopping centre (it was really near, no kidding, like just 3 metres away from us only) and just walked around taking photos. i think it was called Conrad Centennial Singapore (from Google maps ahahaha) there was this random guy who stopped us and wanted to perform a simple magic trick for us to see, and why not ? so we stopped to watch. it was like the mainstream kinds involving poker cards, and it wasn't really fantastic but it was compliments from the shopping centre itself for Christmas so i probably shouldn't have expected too much. Peng says he could do it too, just that he forgot. hahah. there were very little people, probably cause it was a shopping place for all the rich people cause there were many branded shops there. ohwell we students can't afford anything but no harm window shopping ! there was this huge Christmas tree and we stopped to take couple pictures. hehe. can't possibly not have pictures on our very first proper date. Peng took one of the ceiling and posted it on insta. and i thought it looked similar to one of Thura's pictures and told him, he went to search it and it turned out to be vastly different. ooopsie hahaha. so we just continued walking and munching on the dried mango snack. it wasn't that bad but it kinda sticks to the teeth hahaha. but it's healthy so okay ba. and then i think we walked to Suntec City ? and then we saw Christmas deco ! another Christmas tree and reindeer figurines. the tree had purple bell decorations and was so pretty ! and i wanted photos hahaha so we were like trying to ask people to help us take photos. took many bec sometimes Peng didn't like it cause either he looked fat, smiled weirdly or the plastic bag containing our snack ruined the picture. hahaha. he said they have no skill in taking photos, not like him. he knows how to capture the correct angle. lol. and he proceeded to show me by taking my picture with a reindeer. hahaha. we saw Marina Square after that and he said the outside was where he ran his marathon. i think it was the Commando Challenge ? yup. and we headed there and there was this high-rise open space outside the shopping centre where there were many smokers ;( and it was kind of raining. thankfully we were already under shelter. so we walked around, visited this big electronics megastore and then we saw various brands of robot vacuum cleaners which apparently can move around by itself and clean the house. Peng told me he wanted to buy that in the future. lazy boyyy. it's pretty expensive leh ! like 4-digit lor the cost. but whatever makes him happy. if it's price falls in the future maybe we can buy that. hehe. we then saw this small bowling centre and arcade which looked so familiar to me. i think i had been there before with my family. we got hooked on watching people play the arcade game whereby you control the mechanical pincer and grab toys inside the game thingie. Peng wanted to grab a toy for me and so he exchanged money for tokens. he tried a few times but gave up cause it was totally cheat money one. their pincers were like so weak !!! anyway we used the remaining money to play the video games inside the arcade centre. we played the shooting one, where they measured our compatibility as partners. (not literally as relationship partners but just shooting partners) our compatibility score was like near 80% i think ? hahha we were like so happy cause we matched each other. i remember playing the exact game with Jas and our compatibility score was like 30% hahaha. Peng said i kept saying shit when i couldn't shoot the monsters in time. haha ! oopsie ugly side revealed. but anyway it was pretty fun and easygoing and i've never felt more comfortable ;)
anyway, i think he likes to book tickets beforehand, no idea why but yeah. and so he has already booked the movie tickets and we went to collect it. and he refused to let me know how much is the movie tickets (confirm it's super expensive cause, isn't Christmas a public holiday ?!). and he refused to let me pay for it either ! gah.
i don't really like the feeling like i'm sponging off him, making him spend his money like it's never-ending, always depending on him to pay for me. though he earns his own pay from the home tuition he's been giving, it's not really that much if you factor in all the things he has to pay for on our date, multiplied by two cause he's paying for two people instead on one (himself).
but he insists that it's what he really want to do so i let him. only for this once.
we ate at Jia Xiang kolo mee and the thing is, he paid for it again. arghhhhhh. (and it was so damn ex ! damn overpriced.)
geh kiang and went ahead to order the curry kolo mee, ended up eating super slowly till we were late for the movie time, and i was sweating once more and i had liquid coming out from my nose (鼻涕) okay i totally forgot what was the english term for it but whatever.
so we caught this movie and sad to say NO COUPLE SEATS (ahahahahaha).
so there was this big bulky armrest blocking us and it was hard to be closer.
okay people who read this are gonna be like, seats are meant for one butt per seat, i used to seat in non-couple seats so what's the fuss now, couple seats aren't the point, the movie that is playing is the point, blah blah.
of course, that's pretty much true BUT !
everything kinda changes once you're in a relationship. you'll just crave closeness, warmth, and comfort. and i swear a lil cuddling is super comfortable and now that i know i never want to deprive myself of that. although it kinda gives rise to sore body parts after a while but it's worth it (from my point of view).
not only that, it makes me feel so happy that i can't even describe the feeling. just a feeling of blessedness and a lil bit of something more.
apparently he estimated his time a lil wrong when we chose to walk over to Clarke Quay (he failed to take note of my slowness), and by the time we reached Clarke Quay and went to Palm Beach Restaurant which apparently he had made a reservation, it was chock-full of patrons and the reservation was completely useless cause we failed to appear within 15 minutes of the initial reservation time.
all thanks to me and my slowness ;(
if i were him i'd probably get sick and tired of having a girlfriend who's as slow as a tortoise in everything's she does and who's really dumb sometimes.
am always thanking my lucky stars that he haven't picked on those bad traits yet.
we left our name at the counter again and took a brief stroll along the line of restaurants.
and on the way, he showed me Butter Factory, the club which he had gone to the other time with his clique (Gaoming they all).
it was pretty inconspicuous and i wouldn't have thought it was a club, even with the guy standing down there blocking the entrance (who was apparently the bouncer). okay, so i've always thought that bouncers should be fat and meaty so they can effectively block out those who shouldn't be in there, but the one at Butter Factory wasn't. he was pretty skinny and kinda had less muscle than Peng but i probably shouldn't judge him at face value.
we walked about twice up and down the riverside of restaurants and when Palm Beach still failed to call us up to inform that they had a table for us, we settled for this Sumiyaki Grill & Bar (kinda forgot the name already so i created it).
the bar had an open concept and i could feel the night breeze by the riverside. which provided a really peaceful ambiance.
the prices of their stuff was really... wow.
horribly overpriced.
i tried to order the cheapest thing possible but Peng knows that i love raw salmon and so he ordered it for me. which was totally not worth the money cause i believe i can get the exact same thing outside at a much cheaper price (possibly even less than half the price of it).
but he was the one ordering, so he called the shots. and he kept ordering and ordering.
half the time i was enjoying my food and the other half of the time i was worrying if he had enough money to pay for the meal.
so the food was really good, that i gotta say, though the service could be greatly improved (and i mean this with regard to the waitress who served us. would she die if she gave us a decent friendly smile ?!)
was kinda expecting the total bill to amount to about maximum $80++, but it totally exceeded my expectations.
it costed us (him) $150++.
WHICH IS SO FREAKING EXPENSIVE AND I ALMOST KEELED OVER WHEN I SAW THAT HORRENDOUS NUMBER.
what the heck man, the service was only so-so, the food was passable, and they charged $150++. what the shit man they totally live to strip us of all our money.
i felt extremely guilty there and then, with him paying so much just for a simple dinner together, not to mention those stuff that he paid for me earlier on.
and he doesn't even earn that much lor :(
anyway i've already made up my mind to whip out my wallet fast so i can pay first and the money would be coming out from my own pocket instead of his. still working on it though cause he keeps insisting that he should be the one to pay. (屁咯,谁讲的。)
we had a nice walk by the riverside after that, to aid in digestion a bit.
he decided to send me back early at about 9, 10 plus ? cause he didn't want me going home too late (and getting nagged by my family again).
just my luck to have stomach cramps and i had to visit a Macdonalds's toilet to empty out my bowels.
though it was a really pricy date, what touched me the most wasn't the food or anything.
it was his thoughtfulness, at picking a place to have our date, to reserving seats in the restaurant beforehand, and buying me that gift.
it was a pretty pair of ear studs which were thicker than normal ear studs and so i could only wear it on my piercing at my right helix.
he bought them cause he was unsure if i was sensitive to those materials of the cheap stuff (WHICH IS REALLY DAMN SWEET :()
his mother told him that he shouldn't have bought me something so cheap but to me, it was something to be treasured. even the gift box was fixed up by himself.
so blessed to have him as my boyfriend, who always places my interest above his and strives to make me happy.
guess i can call myself the luckiest girl on earth ever ;)
